I unloaded in Eden NC. My Pennsylvania load cancelled so I'm collecting layover pay for 2 nights to wait till Monday.

    Knucklehead and bryan21384 Thank this.

I'm a company driver now an I'm basically married to the job. When we lived in Illinois I was home a lot more but we moved to Texas and I'm running otr now. Hadn't looked for anything to be home more in Texas cuz the guy I work for takes good care of me. I pull a hopper bottom and I've made more per year here than anywhere else I've ever worked. With my own truck I could pull the same stuff an make 15% to 20% more on top of what I invest back in my company for maintenance and emergencies. Now that would be with my own authority though. I've not gotten numbers yet from any of any companies as to what it would be with just running under their authority. Obviously with my authority I would keep 100% of the revenue. When ya lease on you keep 65% to 90%.

Like I said before, if the O/O thing is your dream then go for it. I wouldn’t want the headache of truck ownership but I hope you have success at it.

Atlanta is a big yuck!!!! All of them are in the heart of the city too. I’m hoping to get all 3 off in relatively quick order. Can't lose my hair from the stress. Im already bald. Lol.

You've got a good long term plan. So many people just say, "I'm gonna buy a truck" and not pay attention to the details of the industry.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

I've not had any luck with Atlanta lately. Ever time I go through I'm always running into accident back ups. Yesterday I got tired of sitting still so I said screw it and ducked down 75 through town and North on 85. Thankfully I didn't get caught.

You know, I think more drivers do that than we might think. Its too many drivers that don't get off at 285. I'm always trying to go through there when it's late, but sometimes I'm not so lucky.

    Knucklehead Thanks this.
