Climate Express

They got my truck finished at Freightliner in Texarkana. It had a wiring harness that shorted out near the ECM. In turn it shorted out the ECM as well. It cost 6K for the boss to get it fixed. I guess they had the bill total at 7k but he got them to knock a grand off. That dealer is terrible about up charging for parts. They wanted 4k to fix the trap and replace the tarp on the hopper bottom when I was pulling that for the guy outta Iowa. We got that job done for 2100.00 at Timpte in Princeton Illinois. That's a big difference in cost.

 

It calls for lots of fluids. I sweat like a hog awaiting the skewer rod at a hog roast.

 

Plus 1000% humidity

 

Yea the humidity has been awful. I completely soak a T-shirt by the time I'm done loading and unloading. The wife told me to wear my white cotton t-shirts after I get done working since they're cooler. I normally just put one on to load or unload, that way I don't tear up my nice button up shirts. I've ruined all my white T's in the process though.

 

I went back to pulling a hopper bottom. The other job pulling flatbed was going ok as far as my getting securement stuff in hand. The problem was I wasn't getting enough sleep. I have a certain income level I've gotta maintain to stay afloat and I wasn't making enough money. I was on paper logs and worked way to many hours for less money than I make pulling a hopper bottom. I'm too old to be sacrificing sleep for the sake of redrawing log books to keep running. If I ever try flatbed again it'll have to be for someone that runs proper eld's and pays for loading and unloading time on top of mileage pay. I would've preferred to have went to a major carrier that pulls Conestoga and runs proper eld's but my old boss offered me a decent pay rate to pull hopper bottom again.

 

On a side note working and all that heat and drinking all the water that I did, I lost 30 lb and just shy of 3 months. Now I'm trying to walk a half an hour every day just to try to keep it off. Because I need to keep my weight down obviously so I can be healthier. I've also radically switched my diet. As low as sugar diet as I can maintain is what my goal is. So no soda pop no ice cream no candy no junk. I've eliminated bread so far pasta potatoes and junk food. I'm down to meet veggies and eggs that I can eat. I'd kill for a cookie right now! I've had to convince Mama to not be making me no peach cobblers and apple pies and all that crazy sweet stuff.

 

Here ya go! Jack is back home in his Black Mack. I'll have to get it cleaned for it to look that nice again.
