Oh dude i carry 18 quarts of additive with in the winter. And i restock everytime at the yard even if I've only used just a few jugs. This heat lovin American is not gonna gel up an freeze to death! We got extra blankets an plenty of clothes to layer up with an multiple coats too. We keep enough stuff in here that we could easily go 3 weeks before having to do laundry. This truck is stocked so well it's on a first name basis with Wal-Mart lol lol!!!

Interesting about the additives... So I was a new driver a year ago, some might call me a new driver still lol. I always saw these Anti Gel on the shelf. I called my maintenance man at the Yard. He said, every major Truck Stop (Loves, TA, Petro, Pilot etc) from North Texas & up north uses a Winter blend Fuel mix during the winter months. Then I saw the sign posted at Loves: Winter Blend used November - March (or something like that). My maintenance guy said don't use the Anti Gel because its just going to make the fuel burn less efficiently & the fuel mixture already has it.
Also he said, we are good to 15 degrees. Anything below 15 & idle the truck to keep the fluids moving.
I spent a night up in Iowa & it was -10 degrees. I idled & had no problems.
Anti Gel is kinda a scam. -
Oh P.S. My mom got a baby kitten today & it makes me want one for the road so bad. Going to be a problem someday for me & Raider haha.
Hope you're doing well Bryan. -
Just wait to you get a lot of that bio diesel and then go away up north where it goes to 10 to 15 below zero in the winter time I guarantee it using no anti-gel additive won’t work very well

Man I laughed out loud reading that post!!! As many cold weather spots as we run we better prepared!!!! They better back the Walmart truck up to your cab lol

We need to call him Houdini lolProfessor No-Name Thanks this.

No brother it ain't. It ain't always guaranteed that you'll fuel in the cold weather states. If you fuel in the south, you better put that additive in there. I made that mistake years ago. I picked up a load in South Carolina going to Michigan. I got fuel at Pilot in Duncan, SC. Ran up there and did a 34 in Ottawa Lake, MI. I still had a couple of hours driving to get to Benzonia, MI. I got to Cadillac, MI and my truck lost power. It was -31 that morning. I popped the hood and the fuel filter was waxy looking. Had to call someone to swap it out, at that time, the company I was with tan Ryder rentals. The Ryder mechanic explained that the southern states fuel was food to 10 degrees. You did mention that fuel in the northern states is treated for below 0 conditions but if it gets colder than 20 or 30 below, you never know!!! Anti gel also cleans your fuel injectors and will improve fuel economyProfessor No-Name Thanks this.

For sure man, I'm on a 34 in Seville, OH. Does Raider not let you have cats?

We are out of Fargo and don’t use additives. Trucks do have the attic package with fuel heaters. If it’s below zero we use a 50/50 mix of number 1 and 3drvrtech77 and bryan21384 Thank this.
