That's good to know, so it's only the truck fuel that has to be Pilot?
-
Yep. Well I'm sure they would prefer the def got at pilot too. I try to get def at yard when possible. I have had to get bulk def once at a love's. Would've been cheaper an easier to have got it at the pump but i for some reason didn't think to do it that way. Also if your on a run an ya don't think ya can make it to next fuel stop ya can get emergency fuel somewhere so ya can make your fuel stop. If ya do make sure an let Lucas know about it. I had to throw a little on one time at oakley ks to mske salina. But i got permission from dispatch to do it.

Ahhh ok, that's good info. I admit, I dont always use the fuel stops. On occasion I have to call an audible one some of the stops. Sometimes I just get enough to make the run if it's a backhaul. Then it's either Mt. Vernon, Pontoon Beach, or sometimes Effingham. They seem to like paying the IFTA at the pump based on the stops they give

I finally got a reefer load and it's that potato special from Monte Vista to Moberly. I'm sitting close to Kansas City but can't deliver til 0200 Monday. Does CE go to Monte Vista year round? I'm hoping not. Question about reefer settings. What is the difference between start/stop and continuous modes? I mean, what determines which one you use? They told me to use stop/start, so when would I use the continuous setting?
-
We go to monte vista most of the year. I've even went in the winter. In your additional info message it will tell you whether to run reefer on start/stop or continuous. Continuous is used to maintain a more constant temperature. Like say if the product needs to be maintained close to say a steady 34 degrees. Continuous will keep the temperature close to 34 more consistently where as start / stop will cycle on an off an range 5 to 10 degrees both sides of the set point. 5 degrees one way or the other is optimal performance but some older units let it go up to 10 degrees below or above set point. I don't think those are operating at proper spec but I've never had a customer complain about product temp so i guess we're doin ok on that score. If you ever haul out of smith dairy in Pacific, those loads are ice cream mix an always run at 36 continuous.Metacoyote and drvrtech77 Thank this.

Generally continuous is used on frozen loads where the temp is near 0Metacoyote Thanks this.

So also it depends on the product that your hauling and what the shipper wants. Now if you're ever given conflicting info at the shipper different then what your dispatch additional info said always confirm with dispatch what to have it set on. Sometimes the shippers want a different setting then what the consignee wants. Dispatch has the rate sheet and will advise you. Our shop should have went over reefer operation with you if they knew you needed training. Any questions just ask me but if ya need quick help don't hesitate to call the shop.Metacoyote Thanks this.

We use it on ice cream mix tooMetacoyote Thanks this.

Continuous maintains the entire trailer closer to the set point for loads that need a narrow temperature rangeMetacoyote Thanks this.
