Can any of you shed some light on something for me: I got a friend on the phone, and he just started at Walmart not long ago. He's working out of the Brundidge, AL DC. He got his load, and it's a multi stop load going to Tampa. He has 35k on the trailer axles, with randems all the way to the rear. I'm thinking Florida is a little lenient on axle weights as opposed to total gross. It seems like I've came across drivers before who were near 40k on trailer axles traveling through Florida. Do any of you know this to be true?

You are allowed 40k in Florida provided your truck and tires are rated for this.. Florida has a 41 foot bridge law. Have them move the trailer tandems up, they would get a ticket for being over bridge if all the time the rear of the trailer fit being over bridge.

Thanks for that info! He had been pulling flatbed for the last decade so he's still learning about weight distribution in dry vans and reefers. He had already got an overweight ticket because didn't try to get it fixed before leaving the DC. It was something Iike his 3rd run. They sent back with a trainer for a couple of weeks. Anyway, he ended up dropping the trailer somewhere and they had to take a couple of pallets off. @radioshark when you say tires have to be rated for the 40k weight on the trailer tandems, does that mean the standard 295R tires wouldn't be good for hauling that much weight?

At shamrock in phoenix. Got here last night. Was hoping to get in early. But they were super busy an the lady just called a few minutes ago to let me know that she was finally checking us in. Now still gotta wait for a door assignment. They usually don't take long to unload if i remember right. Good thing is it's still early out here at 07:15 AM, so we should be be able to get reloaded today someplace an get to strolling for st louis. This is the 1st time we've been to phoenix since last year before the mrs got down with covid.

That is bizarre. Each time I've gone it was probably an hour unload time at best. I guess every where has a bust moment. I'm about to take off and finish for Moberly here momentarily. This sausage, egg, and cheese mcgriddle is giving me new life lol

Tires have a load rating look on the side of the tires for example load rating g or h. Multiply that by how many tires and that will give you the load rating for the axle for tires. Axles also have a load rating look on the door jam for that. State laws on weights superseded those if tire and axle ratings are higher than them.
