Well, truck is back in the shop a third time. Nothing will rub me the wrong way quicker than mechanics acting like I can't tell the difference between a windshield and a tire. "Air leak fixed" twice now. I get in the truck, and can watch the secondary air tank drop 4-6PSI a minute only while engine is running... over and over again. Fan constantly running even with AC off in 75 degree weather.
Getting irritated with a driver for saying "it's not fixed" because they didn't want to do the easy part of sitting in the air conditioned truck for 5 minutes to verify if it was/wasn't doesn't make sense to me, but what do I know. Accusing a driver of trying to ruin a transmission for not checking transmission fluid, but getting irritated with and not believing the driver reporting a very easily observable issue is hypocrisy at it's finest.
Giving them one more go around to actually fix it/verify it, and if not, then they can explain to accounting why my fuel bill is 10% higher and I'll just fill out a new form for the shop with the same issue listed every time I'm here. I'd say I won't lose any sleep over it, but the air compressor kicking on every 4 minutes and purging all night might say different![]()

I actually lucked up and got empty early today. They deadheaded me to Robinson for a short run to Edwardsville. Travis told me to park at the J in Pontoon Beach once I dropped. Not a lot of freight moving this weekend he says. I know it's because the holiday is near, and I actually forgot about the 4th. It's a chance I could be there all weekend. Oh well. The nature of the beast I suppose. At least you're busy this week though. Your truck is getting that work.Professor No-Name and mdmgolfin Thank this.

Update: Got put in truck 1195 as a replacement. It was the fan hub and they don't have the part, so it was this truck or sit all weekend. I'll take the Denver run over a Super 8 for sure

I hit the post button before I typed in my message. I think 1195 is one of the trucks that me and the wife had while I was there if I remember correctly. That's been quite a while ago. While we were running team there we got a brand new truck every year. I worked there a little over 6 years and I probably had I'd say around 10 different trucks if I had to guess. I know I switched trucks more than I cared to!

I worked at climate for quite a while. The impression that I always got was that Larry had been there like forever. I kind of got the impression somehow that the only way his job was going to be empty and someone else take that spot was when he retires. For some reason I got the impression that he had been around and been with the company since way back when it started and its roots. I really can't explain what instilled that impression in my brain but that was my take on the entire situation at any rate. And my wife and I ran team there for quite a while. She just happened to mention the other day here while back that she kind of missed those guys they're at climate. I met a few good people there other drivers and such. But I don't know that I would go back to work there. Because some of the office people really gave me the rude cold shoulder after I put in my two weeks notice. I was rather put off by that being as I could have just said well here's your keys I'm leaving and not given them any notice at all.

Well I moved back into the world of a modern truck. The boss put me in the newest truck he's got besides the one he's in. It's a 2023 Mack Anthem. It's got a full sleeper on it, the newer version of a Mack Mid-roof. I can stand straight up out of the seat now. It's basically a stand up sleeper, just a little shorter than a condo. I can stand on the bunk an just nod my head down some at the ceiling. Lot's of storage. It has air-ride front suspension, which will take some getting used to. It had 123k on it. Sounds like I may be gonna doing some west coast an northwest stuff once in awhile an that's why he wanted me in the newer truck.wulfman75, bryan21384 and mdmgolfin Thank this.

I love those Mack Anthems man. You gotta snap a pic of it when you get a chance. I just marvel at them every time I see them. Your boss is making you his MVP for real. Talk about taking really good care. Other than Volvos, Macks were the best trucks I've ever driven.Professor No-Name, wulfman75 and mdmgolfin Thank this.

Did they end up getting you a reload? It's not the worst flying hook in the world to get stuck at, at least.
Yeah, I figured it was a team truck or someone home weekly when I saw how low the APU hours were. It's pretty solid so far. Almost like it a little more since the last driver was a smoker -- I don't have to feel as bad with cigars and cigarettesbryan21384 and Professor No-Name Thank this. -
Those mack anthems are nice. I noticed Mack's usually have nicer seats than Volvos too. And the flat bottom steering wheel is comfortable and gives some more leg room when climbing in and out.bryan21384 and Professor No-Name Thank this.
