I agree. Anytime there's a 900-1100 mile next day possibility or a load where me and another driver are running the same pickup and delivery, I try to get it there ASAP just out of pride lol. Obviously not meaning blowing through work zones and blowing scales, but just taking DOT minimums and keeping it rolling. I think my best unexpected next day was Hastings, NE to Baldwinsville, NY. On site parking on both ends made it a bit easier.

This morning hasn't gone much better so far, but it's finally turning around. Was parked at a truck stop a mile away overnight, woke up this morning to head to shipper, and managed to thump a deer in the mile drive lol. Luckily, it was on a 25mph industrial road so it was just a little bump with no damage. Probably no damage to the doe either. Got to the shipper and was, once again, not scheduled. Luckily, I got a door as soon as the truck scheduler showed up, so we'll see how quickly they get me out of here.

After a few years OTR, I now know that **** happens and it does zero good to get upset or impatient. In a market like this, dispatch can't always just request TONU and move on to another load, so I'll just take the layover pay gracefully lol.

That's a cute pup -- always loved Australian Sheperds. They're smart dogs, so maybe you can teach it to team drive with ya.

It's just luck of the draw. If you haven't yet, you'll probably get a 02:00 Aldi delivery in O'Fallon that you pick up from Craftsmen at some point lol. Sucks to get those short runs at the beginning of the week because it kinda throws off the hours, but the short haul pay is nice if you're on recaps. They also have an Edwardsville to Fulton run pretty often. Only like 150 miles, but it is what it is.

Well boys, I'll be in 1355 here in a couple hours. This truck is due for a routine overhead. Got a call from Travis letting me know and his boss was very much needing to know how long it would take me to swap trucks, so waiting wasn't actually an option lol. Luckily, I pack light, so shouldn't be too difficult. I've gotten some practice here already :D

Has been a weird day -- swapped trucks, logged into the ELD, and then saw a load going to Albuquerque for a Friday delivery. That probably would've been my last guess for destinations.

Totally jealous of that ABQ run! I got hit with a 2nd weekend babysit load in a row. At least it's going west. I like going west. Wish we went west more often.

Definitely prefer going west too. Less traffic, better scenery, usually more miles on each load. Denver doesn't feel very west lol.

At least you were able to get through Atlanta at a halfway decent time, traffic wise. And it's not 100+ degrees down there anymore.

These new trucks have some pretty nice changes. 13 speed instead of 12, so the rolling hills are less painful. Instead of bogging down 12th, now 12th has a little more grunt and 13th is more of an overdrive type gear with the speed we're governed at. It gets brutal around 50-55 though lol. Seems like these trucks preemptively shift more than the others too. It'll drop to 11th and run up to 69-70 at the bottom of a steep hill.
