Yes they can go into the computer an turn off the auto shutdown. Explain to them that it won't idle without setting the trailer brakes an releasing the tractor brakes. An that ya don't wanna risk having the trailer brakes freeze up. Tell em ya wanna be able to idle with just the tractor brakes set. They did that for me an the wife in every truck we had.

Thank you. Yes, that was my concern. I'm good with the apu, but prefer for the truck to run at that temp.bryan21384 Thanks this.

Okay, so another question. Why does the truck go into high idle every so often? This is my first Volvo, and the other 3 brands I've driven haven't done this.
bryan21384 Thanks this. -
I’m not with Climate, but just a guess, it’s probably doing a regen.bryan21384 and Peace_Maker Thank this.

Hopefully not several times a day, and not on a truck with only 12k on it.bryan21384 Thanks this.

No, it shouldn’t be doing a regen several times a day!bryan21384 and Peace_Maker Thank this.

The volvo's i had did the same. The mack i have now does it as well. They say not to bump the idle up on the new trucks to just let em run at base idle. In the old days we'd idle them up to keep em from slobbering on theirselves. So my guess is that the computer bumps the idle up once in awhile like that to correct an clean out for the continued base idleing. That's just me guessing though. Just seems to make sense to me.Peace_Maker Thanks this.

Hmm... I can't idle up any more than 7k rpm anyhow. 2k more than base seems kinda pointless to me.

We used to idle em up a little to smooth out the idle an make em idle more efficiently. Like i said tho in the newer trucks they say not to. My mack even has on the visor sticker how it will idle at 550 to i think 700 continuously an will or can be bumped up at times but that it will return itself to base idle on it's own.Peace_Maker Thanks this.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info!
