I don’t know if you do Facebook but there is a group called the 9 + MPG Club that I have learned a lot from. This is their specialty

It sounds too good to be true. Volvo ECMs are not very accurate with mpg. All 4 of them I've driven so far were showing at least + 0.5 mpg too much from what the real thing was. Still, even if you are staying above 9 mpg it is outstanding. I mean, getting 10 mpg is just too much to believe for any truck.

This is the funniest thing I have read all day. Any auto display will not be as close as pen and paper. SORRY BOSS.

I have a 2017 579 and based on what my dash says versus what it actually is on paper I’d say you’re closer to 8.5 to 9. That’s nothing to sneeze at either. But the computer isn’t as accurate as the “old tech” way of figuring mpg.

jamespmack, wore out and Intothesunset Thank this.

OK. Gonna do the math and see if I can trust the computer. At this point I have to know the truth.

I will reset it when that day comes. The next load is 13K so my average might suffer a bit.

Get the Fuel Gauges app. It’s free. That’s what I use for mine. It’s easy to use. Keeps a running 90 day average for you also.

My old 99 Classic, w/ Detroit, on board computer lied like a drunken sailer. It progressively increased. 7.5= actual 7, 8.5= 7.5, 10= 8.5. I could always beat the cruise. It was the last of pre lo nox engines. It ended up averaging 6.5, heavy, and through hills, etc. I could get close to 8 on flat, loaded light. Soon as you hit the hills, down it went. No matter what.
