I'm still surprised these finance companies loaned all the money they did after the bath they took in the last downturn.

Been periodically browsing for a service truck. With how many are on the market I'm amazed the prices are so high. $250k for a new F-550 or Ram 5500. Even 15 year old ones with 300k on the odometer are $50k or more.

Just like us, they've got to figure it out and carry on doing what they do. I bet a lot of em were tempted to get in to trucking last year though.

I see rates going down but i dont struggle yet , maybe because of minimum overhead and paid of equipment. I already agreed that i am bad businessman ( i never had more than 3 drivers at a time ) and after one of 2 drivers abandoned my equipment recently i decided no more and one driver i have either will buy my truck and continue as 0/o or be the last one for me .

I have a good friend that I use as my financial advisor and is a very sound source to use as a economic barometer for the trucking industry
When times are good he drinks Budweiser & Crown Royal when things get lean he switches to Bush lite and Ripple out of a brown paper bag..
I see he has be posting on this thread with more sound economic advice.. He's the Paul Pelosi Sr. of the trucking industry
I better call him.& see which hooch he is on this week
