My understanding is that most schools and most states (people at the DMV) don't know that rule exists. But my understanding is that it was also a Federal mandate that they have DMV computers that share the information. Kind of like if you don't turn in your Ohio license after a DUI, and get pulled over in Georgia. GA should show the suspension in OH. That type of thing should happen with the issuance of a CDL. Pass in one state, should be good in all. But.... It's the DMV you're dealing with... So.... Good luck.
