I got the kit for $100 from my volvo dealer. Took it home and couldn't the thing apart. Beat on it heat it with a torch, Pb blaster....nothin worked. So I took the kit back with my clutch and traded em both in on a new one. $750 is what the new (reman) cost

Truckerbangin: You already know your clutch should disengage with air, it does not, so the clutch is defective. I looked at a 09-03 Columbia 14L on the yard today and I believe that's a ddec IV. While ordering other parts I asked for pricing, a kit is about $475 and an exchange is about $625. This one is a Horton and to me easy to rebuild with required tools. If you do not have the tools or experience the $150 is not worth the risk for one job to me. Thank you for replying. In response to others, when this truck was running with fan freewheeling, it locked up when the key was turned off. I am not saying you are wrong there is just different stuff out there. Be careful when you say a manufacturer never offered or made something. A old man I worked with years ago said never say always and always say maybe. Oh I'm sorry, you know he rambled, but he was old, now I am rambling,my grandson says his mother my daughter is old.

Is it possible to have a power loss with a failing clutch fan ?
-
Absolutely. It's the whole idea behind a clutch fan, so it won't drag down the motor when not needed. I'm sure you've felt in the throttle a lag when the fan goes on. It sucks a lot of power.

It's an effing FAN CLUTCH, not a clutch fan, for God's sake

My bearing have went out. Do you have to replace entire assembly? What's the process? 2003 379 w/ 6NZ

I have a 2014 Cummings and a mechanic had me turn the key on and release the breaks and he could sift my fan and told me my fan clutch was bad Is this a test to check them
