Guess what I meant to say or ask, does putting a heavier torque rated clutch than what you are actually putting out help the clutch last longer?
In your case @Don379 running a C-12 in a dump truck, I assume not grossing over 60-70k. I know off road work is hard on a clutch especially following the trimmer or milling machine but will the higher rating really help with life of a clutch that just gets used a LOt

As far as the little c12 impression that c12 wont hurt a clutch during the usage triaxle uses it for, and no offense taken at all my friends. My truck is worked, i can pull away or hang with some of the older 3406 and cummins. No new macks or other run of the mill emission trucks especially automatics cant hang with my truck at all un steep grades. Everyone always syas, that have a c15 in it? im like nope, just a little c12. Anyhow, just for your viewing pleasure i took some video with my cam i have been using for mechanic work. Im behind a buddy of mine in his 2004 frightliner fld with big 14l detroit completely worked over with bigger injectors turbo, etc. Both of us left quarry maxed out around 73K. HArd to tell from video, but this is a nasty hill to take and cant get momentum. He pulled all the way up in 6 high and left me but i had to drop to 6 low. HE didnt get too far away. I have 02 379 pete. Not bad for a little c12. enjoy

Just my 2 cents. I work alot on mixer trucks, similiar application and have noticed anything over 1700ft lbs on clutch seems to be too jerky and doesnt have good manners.
I usually install the 308925-82 on trucks rated to 1750ft lbs and they hold just fine and seem to get best life without being jerky or making noise. I have replaced a few that shops install a 2050 or 2250 clutch and they get shorter life with higher failures in hub, not sure why they have higher failures.black_dog106, BoxCarKidd and Don379 Thank this. -

I'm not being smart. Just have worked on them, longer than I have driven them. See alot of clutch complaints from someone who changed clutch, yet never changed worn input shaft. Worn, they get graby.BoxCarKidd and Don379 Thank this. -

I only own a 1850 clutch in a 16713 trans behind a 12.7l detroit that is known to gross 90-100k on 5 axles.
Driving habits are a bigger problem than parts. About 400k on a clutch currently. I double clutch however.spsauerland and BoxCarKidd Thank this.
