The grinding noise ended up being an oil leak going into the trans. Replaced the o ring and she’s running well.
Hopefully we can put this behind us now.

Its an oil leak......
Trans oil leaks by the splitter piston o-ring and makes its way up the shifter air lines and causes delayed shift.D.Tibbitt, jamespmack, Arch Stanton and 15 others Thank this.
