Good point, I've seen that happen and I've also seen incorrect washers used on the flywheel mounting bolts (too thick) on Cat engines and the bolt heads then interfere with the clutch disc hub and keep the disc from mating with the flywheel. Cats require a very thin washer under the flywheel bolts.

Would the clutch still disengage if one is in backward's? No mater what it's got to come out.

If memory serves me correctly there will be an immediately noticible issue with the release bearing. It will be pushed all the way out.

I took the truck out with a load today and it started slipping right off the bat when I was empty. I got loaded and it never did it again the rest of the day, and I run it hard on the hills. Time will tell how it treats me, but i'm still a little afraid the reman clutch won't last.

i put a lipe clutch in my last truck slipped the first time until i loaded a heavy load never slipped again.
