I challenge anyone to double-clutch the 3-4/8-9 shift in my truck. You have to move the stick so fast with that ISX, there ain't time to clutch it--the RPM's drop like a rock.

I was in a loaner with a Series 60 last week.... rrrrrrrrrrrr... click... neutral... (ten years later...) click... next gear. They're all different. With an ISX, you learn to shift like a lab monkey on crack... and with a series 60... more like a sloth on Quaalude's.:biggrin_2559:

Wow Everett, you are always having so many exciting experiences with cops that let you go with a warning. I am simply in awe of the way you are able to talk your way out of so many tickets. If it weren't for your suave demeanor when talking to the boys in blue, I'm sure you'd have lost your license long ago.

If I were you, I'd go on Jerry Springer and tell the world how it's done.

Hang around any truck stop and pretty soon, you lose count of the morons. I can't think of any good reason to "jake shift" in a flat parking lot where the speed limit is 15 and all you're doing is disturbing the peace and tearing up your equipment.

What I like even better is the auto-shift driving morons with one foot up on the dash, left arm hanging out the window, steering with their knee as they slurp on the 96 ounce Super Big Slushie in their right hand... blasting through the fuel island like Mario Andretti.

You have seen it before, you know you have.:biggrin_25513:

You gotta have some skill to get a truck moving when your sunk in 4 to 6 inches and leaving a nice rut once you get moving. Thats where I learned to drive was off road, in the dirt, mud and other fun crud. There are some situations where if you don't use the jake to shift you will be stuck in first. Go drive a manure truck and you'll find out what I mean.

Yeah I know what you mean! I drive a manure tanker part time and you are right on. Same goes for silage and grain trucks.

The newer type auto boxes on the MAN trucks have a quick shift option for difficult situations where ultra fast shifting is needed. It uses a engine brake similar to a Jake to slow the RPM quicker for fast shifts.
As for Jake shifting on normal flat terrain."PPS"
