well just a fast update, I am still enjoying, and doing well running my own truck. Only 2 weeks I had less than 1000.00 pay check, and both of them was with a 1 load week. 1st week and when I went home. rest been at 1500.00 or better after expenses taken out. So I am very happy with my decision of taking the leap.

Well at first I thought my fuel mileage was going to kill me. 4.5 mpg.

I had the truck serviced changed the air filters and put a different type of oil and fuel filters on it (replaced the cheaper brand with Cat Filters)

I saw a difference right away fuel mileage went up to 6.9 mpg with a medium to heavy load. With a Light load I been getting 7.4 mpg. That not babying it either. I been running at speed limits or a little higher.

Well I will be turning the Truck I had leased in on Monday, and picking up a Truck I am buying on Wednesday.

The Columbia I had leased beginning to have problems and barely made it home before it left me sitting with a Transmission Problem.

I am buying a 2002 378 Pete with only 533,000 miles on it. It appears to been taken really good care of.

Well the first Tractor bit the dust on me when I got home Friday. Made it to a point 7 miles from my house and had to get it towed. Transmission jammed up on it. It been acting up so I decided to give it back to the Company I leased it from and just buy one I would feel better on repairing when needed. Plus my monthly payments will be much lower.

I am currently pulling a Dry Van, but in the next 4 to 5 months I will start out fully Independent which I plan on buying a Dry Van, Reefer and a Flatbed over time. Already have a Customer for the Dry Van.
Wish I could go back there soon too. But My Girl Friend understands and supporting me in this venture.

    Coastie,

Nice tractor. I enjoy reading your updates. I wish you all the best. I am still looking at a couple more years in the Navy until I am ready to retire (that will put me at 22), then I plan to put my CDL to use. You and Pharm are doing exactly what I want to do.

    Drive safe.

    R/
