Mike, I hope you realized my post was in sarcasm. But it does seem though some of the things I posted, some people think "I just have to have this".
Oh yeah, I'm just having fun with this thread.....as soon as we get to 18 feet of posts I'll be done with it though.
We got one really smart electronics guy (not me) and at least three fairly smart electronics guys/gal (none of which are me either) debating this on here, plus me who has actually swapped out different lengths of coax and witnessed, seen, observed that it does in fact change the SWR reading, and now, a person comes on here, with his first post, that can't/won't use spell check and apparently doesn't understand basic punctuation, and we are supposed to take his word for it????? (Thanks for the tip on where to buy coax though, that was useful! And welcome to the party!) Post Script: the email addy for the coax didn't work..........?
The point Mike was making all along, one none making counter claims will answer. As long as... but He does not. The entire truck is a plastic menagerie. I do take exception to the "enough whip" since we are dealing with a resonant length so this makes no sense, great coax the LMR240 is however.
@Mike5511 "Oh yeah, I'm just having fun with this thread.....as soon as we get to 18 feet of posts I'll be done with it though." But length does not matter. So this can go on for eternity. I must know, is that 18 feet of screen or do I print it out and measure the paper?
Well I believe you are right!:smt046:smt046.................perish the thought! screen...............get a bigger monitor!!!!!
Each post I make (and read), I'm ROTFLMAO! None of it amount to a hill of beans, and those who aren't feeling the tug on your chain, well, sorry! Don't feel "threatened" by l'il ol' me! I'm curious. What do you think would happen if you put your SWR meter right AT the antenna with NO coax at all? Does the thought of NO coax make you go "EEEEEEEEEEEK!" Or "YIPES"? What do you think would happen? Really, I understand the problems with "plastic" vehicles, and I HAVE tested/tuned an antenna WITH random lengths of coax (2', 5', 8'--whatever it took to get to the radio), then I checked it again AT the antenna. The readings were identical. I see the coax thing WRT 11 Meters as a kind of obsession, when, really, except for some narrow exceptions, MOST other radio ops simply ignore it-- preferring to tune the antenna, not the coax. But, again, whatever floats yer boat, hey......I don't care! I admit I tend to "needle" people about their passions,. but I don't mean any harm................... GF
Sorry if it didn't work I guess you'll have to type it in yourself and as for spell check and punctuation yeah I don't really care lol if you need .,?!'-/:;()" to be able to read or understand what I am saying then sorry don't try to read what I type..... And as for it being my first post does it really matter if it's my 1st or 100th post if it works it works right???? Geezzz..... Also read my post if you understand anything about rf then you'd know what's being said but I'll spell it out for ya.... Yes changing coax and length will change swr that's why I said aslong as you have the whip you can go as short as you want.....
I did type it in, give me a little credit there, it didn't work. About your whip comment, see post above. As far as my comments about your not using spell check and your lack of punctuation; I apologize. I ASSumed too much evidently.
