Is the 2000 the same as a 148gtl?

My wife used the cobra 135 from home and on the other side I used my 25 watt cobra 29. I was able to hear her really good for about 4 miles in the city then for the next 1 mile she could still hear me but I couldn't hear her. What can the problem be?

CB radio is designed for short range communication. So your radio is doing what it supposed to do. Many things can affect the range such as; buildings, electronic signs, bridges, power lines etc.
Also your mobile antenna, where it’s located on your vehicle. The type of antenna can affect your range also. With base stations it depends if you’re using a cheap vertical antenna, or a big expensive beam. Is the antenna on your house around 20 feet up? Or is it mounted on a 50 foot tower. Many things can affect the distance of your signal.Meteorgray Thanks this. -

The antenna on the house is about 25 feet up in the air and the antenna itself is a sirio 5/8 17ft. And a cobra 135 with rg8x cable. In the semi I have a China made cobra 29 tuned and peaked 25 watt with 2 4ft antennas. They came with the t680. I'm thinking about upgrading them.

There's your problem, you don't speak Chinese.

My guess is that the receiver in my cobra 29 isn't that great?

It’s the coax length. Multiples of wavelength using Chinese measurements.
Attach tiny jade monkey from microphone hanger.
