    Good Afternoon Drivers!

I recently got a new Cobra 29 Chrome and am having mixed feeling on it.... One of the deciding factors on this was the built in talkback function. Im not sure if its just my radio, or do they all suck when it comes to this? With the talkback on full, its barely there. To say its disappointing is an understatement.

Also, that darn blue light is BRIGHT. I may get this radio tuned and I want to see if they can put in a true dimmer knob somehow to dim that light to a reasonable level... I know this isn't a "top line" radio compared to the 10 meters but I thought for the price I wouldn't have mixed feeling on it...

I've done this to several Cobra 29's to make the TB louder...."easiest-way" is just take a twist-tie off a bread wrapper, remove the insulation to just bare wire, then wrap it around the tops of the two resistors as tight as you can get it...Below is a link to CB Tricks where they have a picture of the two resistors your going to be looking for.

Install a jumper from the top of R21 to the top of R77. This will effectively reduce the resistance of R21 to zero ohms, increasing the maximum volume of the talk-back function.

Be a good idea to experiment with some different mikes.

And an external speaker far enough away to avoid feedback.

I set the Mike Gain first. Lowest setting.

    Then Talkback volume.

Ears turned for audio quality. Best sounding mike, then best settings on best mike.

    Good luck
