Cobra 29 Not picking up

    I have a cobra 29ltd with sound tracker and every time i plug up the connector to the back of the radio it dose not pick up good it just like cracks well any ideas what could be wrong

    Wow this could get deep
    lets see
    broke antenna
    mount not grounded enough
    pl 259 not installed correctly
    coax could be pinned or shorted out
    Or the rx circuit is out
    or the mic needs to be plugged
