Some drive Chevy Impala's and some drive M5's
Cobra being Chevy and 10 Meter being the BMW's
Some prefer simple things in life, others find the taste for better quality items suits them best.
Ya got a Cobra/Uniden strapped to the dash, those Wilson 2k work real nice on those 35 watt yackers.
You run 10 meters dead key swinging 75+ watts driving 4,6,8 pill box's you need a better quality antenna to benefit the full performance capabilities .
Its like putting a fart can muffler on a Z/06 Vette.
As for Predator, they are top of the line sticks !
The receive on them makes them well worth the money($70 shipped in most cases) even on Cobras they are far better then even the top line Wilson 5K(IMO from personal use)
The Predator Line is ALIVE AND WELL,they had a few months down time due to an illness but are back in full swing (April 09)with many vendors receiving stock weekly.
HAND MADE IN AMERICA !!! gotta love that.
Anyway, careful of the varmints spreading diseased propaganda

Thanks Rat that seems to work pretty good on the Cobra29LTD I just installed in my Volvo.
Not being a big radio guy good you go into more detail about "clip D11 and the magic screwdriver?" I had my old radio tuned in Amarillo TX but I don't know what she did exactly other than open the modulation she said. -
There is more to it then that,he is no where near a Tech.
Just a local driver with to much time on the keyboard. -
That is right, I am no were near a tech but I can clip a limiter and spread some coils and play with my soldering iron to volt up the final section etc.
A cheapo rat shack meter and you are golden. But then I don't like my radio to splatter anymore since I learned that things are better when done by a Real Tech that stands behind his product 100% and not just the things he did to it either. -
Just my $.02 about the antenna thing. I ended up with a Cobra 25 LTD classic that was already peaked and tuned. I'm putting out around 35 watts... I know that the shop i went to would most likely charge around $25 to modify your radio like that. As far as the antenna, I just have a basic astatic antenna that I only paid $15 for. I know it is probably worth spending more money for a nicer antenna, but hell...with my setup, i'm getting a good 5 miles on channel 19 and on other channel's I'm picking up other towns in the county which is roughly around 15 miles if not more. I don't have a kicker or anything yet, but wouldn't mind getting one because I don't like "getting stepped on". But, just saying from my experience (and its not a lot) I didn't have to spend an arm and a leg for a antenna and I'm very happy with my setup in my pickup truck. -
A decent radio set-up can be pieced together in no time.
I hear great deals everyday in truck stops.
On average one could do a Connex GL or 33HP and A Wilson 2K for under $150.All you need is cash in your pocket when the deal comes around, taking the time to double back a few miles is well worth that deal being had at that TS you just passed.
One of the first things I do after parking is check the "yard sales" for radio equipment(radio's and antenna's)
MANY drivers upgrade their set-ups and generally have
the other stuff on the truck, selling their "old"offsets the cost of the new.
Guy sold a Cobra 29 with a channel kit, blue lights,Connex board and RK/56 for $75 just north of Knoxville Tn. He started trying to sell it north of Atlanta
and had it sold in Knoxville. He was talking on it the entire time. Someone got one heck of a deal on that class of radio.
There out there . . . . .
Check everything out real good and if it suits ya make the deal and be on your way.
Be sure your transaction is in a well lit area,"party row" deals should be avoided if your by yourself at night.
