Yeah, I really didn't do my homework on that like I normally do. I just knew the Cobra mics don't have the best reputation and I want to be clear and crisp when heard.

Are the new 198's the same quality as an older one? Haven't looked to see how long they've been around.
-
Yes, actually if you read review on Cbradiomagazine.com, the newer generation sound better than first batch, I have one made in vietnam and one made in Mylasia and cant tell a difference in sound quality.Diesel Dave and Windmill Hill Thank this.

Astatic 636 sounds really good on a Cobra 29, a little more tone sound, not as much bass, but loud and extremely clear.Windmill Hill Thanks this.

See what you did? Now I'm going to end up spending the rest of the day reading up on reviews

There is a vid on this forum posted by member Volvo, where he did comparisons with 4 different mics, dont know how far back you have to look to find it but it is pretty informative.Windmill Hill Thanks this.

Power mics are fine for stock or properly tuned radios and completely useless for tweaked radios.Diesel Dave and Windmill Hill Thank this.
