As Handlebar said, get your power directly from the battery. Its alittle overkill, but i would run 10 wire to run a 29. I solder all connections. I like happy electricity. I always run a ground back to the battery. And as he said, this will help to eliminate alot of "truck noise"(static, alternator,ECM,etc).
I had a Western Star that took alot of work to get a good SWR. I ran ground straps everywhere on that truck to finally get a good match. The KW i have now trimmed great with almost no work. Some trucks are so simple and some are real bawl busters. Go figure?

Thanks for all the replies I do appreciate the help. My first initial guess was bad radio but figured I'd ask because coming in on just the receive is weird I admit. I've done radio checks during the issue and volume cranked I can hear muffled responses to my call threw the external speaker. Like today it worked all day except maybe for about a half hour then it's fine again. I think I'll get a new one and have this one looked and repaired then ill have a spare with me. As soon as I replace it ill report back what it was.
