Currently the 7700 PRO will show the turn to the left. However our Engineers are working on lane assist. Sorry but I do not know when it may become available.

Well'p, finally got a 7700 Pro for my Dad and he loves it minus one small glitch.. He called me last night and said that it's froze on him twice now in a week after he enters in the address and submits it for routing. It caused him to have to do a hard shut down on the unit, re-start it and re-enter the address. Any suggestions?

We have not been having any issues with lockups, so I am not sure what's happening. Next week we will be releasing a new map database and new software. I recommend that he contact us to get the update. It will update both the software and all the maps. There is no charge for the update. It is a very large amount of data, too much to download from the internet. It comes on a DVD. Have him call Customer Service at 773-889-3087 to order the update.

If by chance he still has a problem after the update, then I would recommend that he send his unit to me and I will take care of it.

BTW, the update is free for everyone.

    Hey Brian,
Bought the 7700 last month and love it. I have a problem with uploading new data. I lost my paperwork and can't find a serial number needed to register and upload recent data. Any way to find that info internally? One of only a few updates I would request is to have the current city location shown on active screen. Helps with logging-otherwise I have to push a button a couple of times....lol.

There is no way to view the serial number on the screen. The serial number is located on the back of your unit. You need to pop the mounting bracket off the back and then you will see it.

    Brian,

For those us who do have the heavy duty bandwidth, will there be a way available to download the update, or with the DVD be the only choice?

    Thanks in advance,

    Don

The update is 2.5 gigs (2,500 MB). Sorry, but it will not be available for download. Here are the official options:

    OPTION ONE
We can mail out a DVD. Absolutely no charge. You will need a computer to load the update into your GPS. The update takes approximately 1/2 hour.

    OPTION TWO
We can mail out an SD card. The SD card plugs into the side of your nav unit. There is a $12 charge for the SD card. The advantage is that you do not need a computer. The update takes about 12 minutes.

To order, please call Customer Service at 773-889-3087. Hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 5:30pm Central time. Be sure to have the serial number of your nav unit.

PLEASE NOTE that the DVD is immediately available, and the SD card should be available by the end of next week. I will post a message when the SD card is available.

    Brian,
I'm trying to do some research for my husband who is out on the road for training. He wants a gps and from everyone elses complaints I've crossed up the Rand McNally and the PC Miler. He is specifically looking for the following features:

    ease of adding way points
    clear directions and sound
    able to create routes
    warning of weigh stations
    restricted roads
    input rest stops

Could you tell me if the Cobra7700 can do those things? I'm somewhat frustrated figuring this all out.

    Sincerely,
    Jeannean in CO

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by adding waypoints, but the 7700 PRO does off several ways of adding destinations:

    1. You can save 1,000+ addresses into the address book
    2. You can enter a VIA, which is an intermediate destination (along the way to your final destination).
    3. You can save a Multi-Route which takes you to numerous destinations.
Regarding clear directions and sound, this is something of a subjective opinion, but I have used the 7700 PRO numerous times and I feel that the directions are clear and the sound is excellent. My opinion might be a little biased, however, since I work for Cobra.

"You can create routes": I'm not sure specifically what you are looking for with this. The 7700 PRO does let you create a Multi-Route which takes you to multiple destinations.

The 7700 PRO does not specifically warn you of upcoming weigh stations, but after you calculate a route you can set it to show weigh stations along the route.

The 7700 PRO will calculate a legal route based on your truck parameters, and keep you off any restricted roads.

Rest stops can be found by doing a POI (Point-Of-Interest) search or by setting the unit to show rest stops along the route.

    Hope this helps!
