i been running the TND500 for over 40k miles now. so far no problems. i have not been routed to a lowpass or restricted road or route. I am an OTR driver. i do all 48. but from the reviews that i read the pc miller sucks. the cobra was ok. the garmin and TND were neck and neck. But what broke the tie for me is the TND has free updates. and i believe garmin charges for thier updates

As soon as I say good things about the 7700 it goes and does me wrong...a few times today alone.

First, from my terminal in Tukwila, WA it tries to route me an extra 4.5 miles to reach interstate 5 which is about .5 miles to my 6 oclock.

I route it to Port Townsend, WA from tukwila, and I should have known something was up when it told me to go north on 5, but I didnt. Like a good little mindless minion of the GPA I followed the directions.....after a hout of driving finally coming to a very small and narrow road with only one lane in each direction, im thinking to myself this cant be good then I see traffic is stopped. I round a corner and realize im a freakin line to get on a ferry. WTF and after I check there is NO OPTION to avoid ferries.

Luckily there was an empty park & ride lot just at the entrance I went into this lot going opposite of every directional arrow there was...But I got out. That really sucked.

At our terminal in Reno., same thing im facing north I want to go to McCarren, between Greg and I80, this dumb thing wants me to go east to I80 the west to the McCarren exit which makes it a 4.5 mile trip. I tiurned west on Greg then north on McCarren took .8 of a mile. This is the kind of stuff that is a killer to me. I knew this route but how many other times is it going to route me all over H*** and back.

I dont get it, but I know all GPD units fo stiuff like this, I have had two others that would constantly want me to turn left at an intersection thenn amke a u-turn, why I have no idea. I never did I just turned right instead. Its crazy.

ALSO I drive in the furthest right lane, and yesturday, it had me taking every exit I passed. I didnt take them but it had me taking them on the map. all day it did this didnt notice it today at all.

Also, you can ask the engineers to add Asian massage parlours w/truck parking to the POI list.

    Thanks,

Sure thing boss. Now, I wouldn't want a little wimp like you to get mad as me:

As to no charge, the first one or two may be free, but like anybody a company cannot survive if everything is given away. Do you haul for free? Mapping data is time consuming and is bought from one of the two major mapping companies. I cannot see a company having to buy the data and then give it away.
