Ok, so I just installed a 6ft skipshooter on my 2017 freightliner cascadia yesterday. I’m running the stock Cobra LTD29 Chrome radio. Is there anything else I should or can do to better improve my system?![]()

Yeah lots of things, ground straps between the antenna mount to the door, the door to the cab, and the cab to chassis. Others can give you details.
Also good coax, from the antenna to the radio, not cheap truck stop junk. -
I got a new coax when I had it all installed. But as far as the ground straps. I have no clue what you’re talking about? And what would that even do?

Search button or scroll through the CB section on here. Lots of reading material.

Grounding straps produces the rf ground or balance that is needed to bring up the radiation efficiency of the antenna system.
The antenna system requires two parts of the signal to be transmitted, one is a positive wave and the other is negative or opposite wave,
It has to have a balance to work right - I just simplified the explanation.
The grounding straps are there to make sure the rf ground is covered with enough of a radiating element for the opposite or negative wave.Brianjr323 Thanks this. -
Ridge is giving you some good advice. But the first thing I would do is buy a longer antenna. A 6 inch antenna isn't going to work very good on 27 mhz, I don't care what fancy name it has. Ha.

From what I’ve read though anything more then 6in is too big and will cause clearance issues??

Easier to just asked for my specific setup. Thanks though.

Thanks. Any chance there are some good DIY videos out there? I’m assuming that should be something I could manage myself and not have to pay a shop??
