after fixing radio's for 20 years i wonder sometimes also about the light..haha... i would say that if your SWR is >3 then it comes on... but nothing in the book.... i do get the light also sometimes and i am set for SWR =1.5... did you set your calibration on channel 1 and 40? just find the happy place between the two.. did you take your ant off the mounts and sand all the crap off the metal? need a good ground...check all your bolts and nuts also.... i queried COBRA about your question and will post their reply when they get back to me... remember let me know your problems and concerns....
