ROFL, at the Daytona statement.I was personally referring to hubby "shaking" a load down, or shifting weight, since he's in a hopper. We have everything bungied down in the truck.

My husband bought a cheap $15 dollar coffee pot from walmart it works great he has had it on the truck for about 5 months now. It a regular house one so you need an inverter but he loves it and it saves a lot of money.
-
We only use the inverter for the TV, DVD, Laptop and the fridge.
-
My company put on theTripac APU, they also installed a big Ingersoll Rand inverter to go with it. Does a good job. -

Be careful of what you buy. Many inverters have what's called (IIRC) the "surge" wattage listed prominently. That's the wattage they'll put out momentarily, for getting stuff going. Sustained wattage will be less. The actual, sustained wattage will be listed elsewhere.
You must have enough wattage to start your appliance, and then enough wattage sustained to run your appliance. -
look on he plate on the microwave and it will tell you the volts, amps and wattage of the appliance. If you have a 1100 or bigger inverter you should be able to use the microwave unless you bought one of those monster ones!
The big number on the inverter should be the actual wattage and it will say something like 1800, 2000, surge but usually when you go to buy one it tells you right on the box reuglar out put nad surge. -
We use a 12 volt hot water pot to heat water and add the water to a french press. Best coffee fresh and hot. Pictures here:

I love my coffee but I have found brewing it in the truck too much hassle. For years I have been drinking "tasters choice" instant coffee. I also buy large cans of cappichino mix. I put 4 teaspoons of coffee and 4 of the mix in about a 20 oz thermal cup. It's as good as starbucks and packs a big caffine punch to boot. All you need is a kettle and a cup and a spoon. There is a lot of milk powder in the mix so you don't even need that. No fuss no bother no mess. Works good for me.
