Coffee is a "must-have" for me in the morning (yes, I am a long-time caffeine addict and make no apologies for it) I drink it black, too. I enjoy the taste, the smell, the warmth....everything about coffee. I tried a Red Bull once, I thought it tasted vaguely like cough syrup. I tried a Monster and a Rock Star also; didn't like the taste. So I can't speak for the "crash" since I didn't drink a full one. The 20 or 30 minute nap works wonders. Schedule so tight you can't stop? BS on that.....make a phone call and let dispatch know. No load is worth your life.
Just got home, kinda sleepy, didn't read other replies....(sorry) but here's my 2cents before my nap: BLACK coffee will NOT make you crash like the sugary energy drinks. If you go to a PILOT, they have these little 'coffee shots' (little black thingy looks like a flavor/creamer for coffee) called SKOR << pretty sure ... and I put TWO of those in my BLACK coffee, and I'm good. In the future, save your iced tea or water bottles, order some beet powder from Amazon (or anywhere, really. WM may carry it) and mix the powder (about 2 scoops) with warm water in that reusable bottle, shake until blended (add splenda or sugar if needed) and keep in your cooler for when you need a pick me up. People 'underestimate' beets, but they are actually quite tasty, and very healthy, and packed with vitamins and WILL give you energy. Don't drink (or eat regular beets) at night or ... before bed, in my case. Might not sleep too good! I'll be back around later, this vampire driver needs a nap. Wish you the best! ps: Tag me PLEASE in whatever thread you are (or have?) posted pix of your new rig!! Be safe; Tomcat
I can't handle the smell of those energy drinks and don't want the junk that comes in it . I drink two things, coffee and water . No sugar or cream
My advice is a small amount of sugar and water. Something like an apple, strawberries, anything slightly sweet with a bottle of water. Also recommend spicy treat or snack. There’s a drink called Zipfizz that has medium amount of caffeine with a ton of vitamins. Slightly too sweet zero calorie sweetener but it’s a good alternative available on amazon. Coffee and energy drinks just delay the inevitable. Plus caffeine doesn’t give you energy, it actually blocks you from feeling tired. Honestly once you get used to driving long periods it becomes second nature and easy to be alert all day.
Alright Tom 10/4, don’t chase Jerry around too much tonight; I posted pic, but deleted them because hitting a Walmart sign and picture of my truck number don’t go together so well hehe stay tuned
