Some long distance buses have those small sleepers under the bus, built as part of the luggage area, just behind the front wheels, wouldn't have belived it if i hadn't seen a second driver on a direct bus climb out of one.

Now that's interesting, I had no idea. There is enough room under a long haul type bus to make a decent little "sleeper" under there.

I've seen the trailer nose sleepers while searching for more info on the under trailer sleeper. Apparently one of the disadvantages, besides communication issues, was carbon monoxide poisoning if the sleeper was used while the co-driver was driving the truck. They are an interesting subject on their own, but at least I have some leads for research on them already

There are some weird other type sleepers I saw while researching, such as a sleeper in the front of a truck, located under the driver's feet but above/behind the engine. Weird looking truck, but seemingly a somewhat practical idea for the time it was from. Still no luck in my research, I will update this thread if I find out any more info about sleepers actually slung under the trailer...

the sleeper is right on top of the engine????????? thats insane...............

i love seeing old rigs though.......they will be in the back lot of some old scrap yard and nobody pays attention to them......havent been touched in years, rusted out, missing all kinds of parts and nobody seems to appreciate how neat they are.....i could spend all day looking at old rigs

WorkingClassPatriot, I came across both of those pics of those wierd looking trucks during my research. Interesting designs, for sure!

Freebird, I also very much enjoy seeing older equipment, be it trucks, construction equipment, tractors, trains, airplanes, or ships. I visit transportation museums when I come across them.

I also enjoy older buildings and other features of civil engineering. I'm a very big fan of "vintage" stuff. It's one of the reasons I hold a history degree.
