saw that years ago, on "what will they think of next" i think that was the shows name anyway. golly that has to be a crappy view. from that low down you couldn't see very far ahead at all.don't imagine that many drivers would consider it safe enough to accept it.

Could that be a Wayne Daniels truck line ?
I have seen several "cab under" combo's many years ago on I-40 or I-10 -
My Dad told me there was a bed in the front of the trailer they hauled. A small side door to get in. 3 X 8, I guess. I have seen sleepers added on to each other. ones I could just dream of. A sleeping driver just needs a bed. I'm old school.
RubyEagle Thanks this. -

I have also seen pictures of a sleeper on top of a cabover cab

I remember reading that CF used to have special tractors that had the fifth wheel mounted so far up that when they hooked up to a pup trailer it was pulled so far up and locked in place that it became a "straight truck" with a tag axle and that was the only way they could run doubles back in the day through Pennsylvania.

I'm looking for pics--but cna't find right away--But--I think you r confusing couple of different things here--maybe--CF--had the first if not second(maybe P-I-E was first) with Drom boxes--basically a 6 or 10 wheeler with a 20ft box--then the 5th wheel--pulling long trailer---as for the far up 5th wheel--Big R mostly(but others)used to have only single axle tractor--and they were configurted with a rolling 5th wheel(rubber wheels and pins)and when pulling pups--the 5th wheel locked in just fron of axle--then when pulling a van--(2axle longer trailers) you pulled the pins on the 5th wheel--rolled it all the way to back of the cab--and locked it back it--then you hooked the converter dolly to the tractor--(the frame rails matched right up)the dolly pintle hook caught a receiver on back of tractor--hooked airlines together--released the fifth wheel on the dolly--rolled it forward--to between the axles--now a twin screw so to speak--allowed them to use the same tractor on line haul runs--pulla 45' out bring pups back--and the pups did have a very deep pin setting--(due to overall length restrictions in certain states(especially Pa pike)and deep pin made it almost impossible to pull with regular twin screw--even if it had a slidin 5th wheel--which typically they didn't....heyns57 Thanks this.
