Point it out ... I am more than happy and will apologize if I am wrong ... The LAST thing I want to do is get somebody hurt doing the wrong thing

Wasn't referring to your post Classix, you were typing while I was, apparently and it just looks like I was commenting on your statements. I never saw your posts when I posted mine. Sorry.

I was just commenting on the "throw it against the wall and see what sticks" statements about securement.. Mostly the suggestions have been personal preferences offered as "regulation" level requirements....when they are not. :D (i.e. I have yet to see one "cite" being referenced to document the "requirements")

    Clasix1055 and volvodriver01 Thank this.

I prefer shotgun over suicide for two reasons:

1 - most coils are 4' or 5' wide which when shotgun style covers more deck fore-aft than suicide which only would be as long as your racks - like what 2 feet? trailers are rated in X lbs in so many feet for high density loads so generally shotgun is easier on your trailer. This is for large single coils; for smaller ones it doesn't matter as much.

2 - my coil bags flaps aren't made for chains running straight down the center. They are made to have the chains come out at he corners. Although the way suicide coils are chained is better than the more angled out way shotguns are done.

So there's my contribution to the thread. Adios!

I see you have a Revolution trailer. I love the "turtle" sysem of the in floor securement. It's hard ot tell, but are you also using the plain chocks in place of a coil rack???? I loved my Revolution 52

    SHC, Roll Tide!!!

It was love at first sight! Most of our loads are skidded coils, but we also haul sheets, so the "turtles" are perfect. I was hauling a mixture of loads yesterday so it was easier to use the racks. I had the boss order me enough chocks to do three rows. We just got a phantom 52, I like the design.
