Cold air is dense. The colder the more dense. The faster you drive the more dense. For every 5mph cold air is equal to x amount of weight. ( forgot formula but there is 1 . Temp x Speed = Force against truck )

This is where the old after cooled engines have an advantage. Intake temp stays constant all year round since it runs water temp and not air temp through the grill.

I don't agree with either of those statements.

Me neither. Hot water cooling air (in a relatively small heat exchanger) vs 100 km/h air at ambient temperature thru a large core. Air to air wins every time for cooling the charge air.

    Please expain your thoughts.
What im saying is in wintertime if air temp is coming through the grill at 30 if your water temp is 180-200 your intake air temp is 180-200 with aftercooler. With cac intake will be closer to 30 even if your water temp is 180-200 and that can be way to cold for an engine to be effecient on fuel burn. Cold intake air is good but sometimes cold is too cold.

    1. Winter diesel mix, less efficient combustion
    2. Cold intake, less efficient combustion
    3. Low temp higher friction, hubs/trans/axles
    4. Low temp air density, increased aero drag???

Ugh no. When it comes to the air going into the engine, the colder the better.

That's what I was thinking, more dense means more oxygen, it heats up to detonation temp on the compression stroke just as quick as summer air would, only it's got more o2 in it. Anyways don't the engine sensors adjust air/fuel to compensate for ambient temp and o2 levels already...
