Is the inside fan running on the Coleman? They ice up and burn out.
My plug melted and i found a heavy duty plug and replaced it. It does not get hot like the Coleman plug.

The inside fan is not available from Coleman anymore......but,they are just a computer fan anyway.
60mm X 60mm X 10mm, These work great and it cools a little better than the original.
Just slide the cover up and remove 4 screws.

Had the same issue with two previous Colemans. Bought an Igloo. It died yesterday after just about a year of near continuous use. I don't bank on any of 'em getting much more then about 8 or 9 months. But it's still cheaper then eating out all the time.

Got ice in my Igloo now, and tilted up away from the fan side to prevent leakage. T/A here in Denton, TX doesn't have any coolers in stock right now...so I'll have to wait until tomorrow. Good thing about the Igloo was that the cord was itself detachable from the unit. I replaced a cord for $25 bucks a few months back. Colemans (unless they've changed) are not easily detachable. I also replaced the plug on it once. Got another few months out of it.

But I also leave mine plugged in all the time, although I try not to do so in the winter, especially overnight.

That is what i was thinking,or one of the fans are seized up.
Check the inside fan, pull the grey plastic cover straight up to remove and see if the fan is locked up or worn out.

These coolers are set up to heat or cool and the change is done by reversing the polarity.

Some Colemans had detachable cords, I have one and the one I'm using, which was given to me by a family has a switch to change from heat to cool with a non detachable cord.

The Koolatron Hybrid will shut down, it cools that well, but still is just a tremo-electric, and it won't heat.

Them anderson power pole connectors are great if you can get the shop to wire one end up for you. You can then fuse it to whatever you want to run on 12 volts.
