no, I told them I wasn't in a financial position to trust them to make me money. Told them I'll reconsider maybe when I'm ready to learn the ropes a little better before going independant. They're a bit disorganized - they cold called me after I had rejected their info off a Craigslist ad (told them I was a co. driver, not interested in leasing, then they called me several weeks later). Then after talking to them over the phone and getting more info via a couple of emails, I emailed them back to decline. They just called me yesterday asking for me to sign the background release form - I told them no, I already emailed you saying I wasn't interested AND you emailed me back wishing me luck!

Guys get your story straight..Colonial out of Tennessee are they a good company to work for? How can there be any confusion about this question? Not colonial out of St.Louis Colonial out of Knoxville Tn. Drivers are asking a very important question here and all I am hearing is Colonial out of St.Louis.Again Colonial out of Knoxville Tn.
Drivers depend on the advice of other drivers, this is a huge commitment theses drivers are inquiring into.Alot of wasted time is not needed to sign on with any company who will not take care of it's drivers.Lease/Company driver.
WE as drivers make great sacrafices in our lives to drive for these companies,And should be paid accordingly. Colonial O/Os is this a recommended company to represent?Knoxville Tn.(Colonial Freight Systems)

Colonial Freight Systems is what you make it. If you come over to Colonial and you want to make money and learn how to work within the system than you bring home from 1500 to 2000$ a week. I'm a Colonial O/O and I have been with them for 14 years. If you are a driver that knows everything and you don't want to listen and learn - than don't hire on with them. They are not the right company for you. If you want to work for a company that pays you 90 cpm but you only run 2000 miles a week than go ahead. CFS pays a little less but they have miles. Colonial has different divisions, they run west coast dedicated, meat patch, bananas or the regular system. They have O/O and a few company drivers.
I also worked for other companies, but CFS is the one that fits me best. Someone posted on here that they charged him 5$ for reefer. Yes, you have to pay for the reefer fuel, but just fill it up yourself before you turn it. It seems like there a two types of truck drivers: the ones, that only complain about everything that the company does to them or the ones, that tell you they make millions, because they know it all. Well, I'm the one in the middle. I make decent money and I don't mind working for it.

Thanks for the info pirat03, I have been trying to talk with CFS drivers as in passed them, and that has been hard most don't answer the radio, but the ones I have talked with have all been positive,
I was hired at the end of April but put off going to work for them because I wanted to do more checking and talk with other drivers.

Starting in September I will start at Colonial, I'm looking forward to the challenge.

I am only going to say this about them not wanting to release the contract. Stay away if they don't want you to take that contract to an attorney there are some hidden issues somewhere. You should have the right to have that contract reviewed for legal advise

I knew from the moment I walked in the door at Colonial that something was different here. This was the first company that I have ever seen that I actually got to meet the recruiter that I talked to on the phone, and she took me to meet everyone in the building, even the owner. I have never seen anything like that! Now after 14 years, and probably another 4 or 5 left in me, I can honestly say that no company has ever treated me with more respect and believed in me the way they have. Maybe my age plays a roll in my beliefs and how I look at an opportunity, but this company is God sent in my book. I went from company to company for the first few years until I was broke, hungry and tired of the whole darned thing. Then one day I saw an ad in a truck book for Colonial and thought about it for a few days. I carried that book with me from LA to Raleigh trying to find another Colonial driver to talk to, and saw not one..... until I pulled into unload, and low and behold, I backed into the dock next to a Colonial driver named Sammy D. Sammy D and I were fast friends from that point forward, and he had been with Colonial for a little over 22 years at that time, and gave me some advise that day that changed my whole career. He said "Son, if you want to believe in yourself, start with the basics. Believe in God, Family and the company that's willing to take a chance on you. If a company is willing to take a chance on you, you should thank God for the opportunity that he has provided you". It took a few hard months to truly understand what Sammy D was trying to tell me, but eventully I realized that I had to believe in my company before I could truly believe in me. If you work for someone that you dont believe in, that means you sold yourself short and therefore you dont believe in yourself.
To make a long story a little shorter, after 14 years with Colonial, I still believe in them today and they believe in me. Not to get too sappy about it, but it feels good to know that the company that took a chance on this dirty nosed southern Alabama boy 14 years ago gave me a chance to succeed in life, raise four kids, and now spend more time with my eight grand kids. That's worth more than all the sign on bonuses and false promises of so many of those big guys.... not me, not ever!
I know too many people try to use this web for bad comments, so I wanted to use it for a good one by saying thank you Colonial, and thank you to all the people there that gave me a chance back then, and keep believing in me today. Sammy D, if you read this, thank you too, its been too long!
    Thanks
    Henry
