thats me also, the dots screw me up big time, lol
and many must not realize that when they take the vision test reading the chart, the last question is what color is this strip??

Mine does color blind every time ! I would ask a dot doctor about the wavier I haven't seen one since the 80's , but it may be available

Let me see if I have this right the vision test will be preformed, when I take the written exam at the DMV for my permit ? not during the DOT physical ? and what about again during oreintation at a company ?

[h=2]Department of Transportation CDL Physical Requirements[/h]Passing the DOT physical will require:.
- With or without vision corrections, each eye, as well as both eyes combined, need to have 20/40 vision.
- Must be able to distinguish colors found on traffic signals.
- Hearing needs to be good enough to notice a forced whisper at a minimum distance of 5 feet.
- Maximum allowable blood pressure is 160/100. Use of prescription medication to achieve this threshold is allowed.
- An applicant can have diabetes which is controlled through diet or medication. Diabetes which is controlled though insulin injections is not premitted
- The maximum level of blood sugar an applicant is allowed to have is 200.
- No use of a Schedule 1 drug, amphetamine, narcotic or any habit forming drug is permitted.
- If you are currently diagnosed with a cardiovascular disease such as collapse, congestive cardiac failure or cardiac insufficiency, then you will need to provide the Medical Examiner with a stress test as well as with a note from your physician stating that you are capable of driving a commercial motor vehicle without restrictions restrictions.

I am red/green colorblind too. It shouldn't be a problem as the colors are far enough apart. The test was very limited

Some states do NOT have waivers and some do. If you end up in a company that is out of another state that does not, its a good chance that you will be medically DQ'd to drive and could possibly find yourself on the bus going home. I trained a guy who was a FANTASTIC driver right off the bat. He never cut a light, there was no way to tell that there was anything wrong and frankly this is a BS regulation IMHO. BUT.. it is what it is.. I conducted his CDL skills test and later that day when he went to convert his D to an A.. he was denied. Wisconsin (at that time) gave NO waivers for anything. Look before you leap.

im color blind as well red green to be exact and ive never passed the dot in circle test but my most recent dot physical they had me id colors verbally and in my orientation the same thing 4 colors one being purple is all i needed to do to get hired on ive had no problem in my years of driving iding colors on a stoplight just by placement of them
