Virginia has either been running drivers off or ticketing them for that for over 35 years. I have been dog tired, just get to sleep, and be woke up by a trooper. I try to explain I'm out of hours and so tired I can't stay awake, the answer, move it or get a ticket.

May was my most profitable month thus far and I'm hoping to keep that trend going as we head into the summer months. I last took hometime in April when we moved into our new home. The way I've been able to get home while on loads has kept me complacent enough to stay rolling. Last Thursday I was able to get home to attend my daughter's graduation ceremony. She was surprised because I didn't tell her I was coming and she was very happy. I'm very proud of her as she graduated with the highest reading level in her class!!!

Picking off right where I left off in May, this month of June has been great!!! I'm on target to make over $5,000 this month. I'm still not looking to take hometime as I'm working to save as much as possible during the busy season. Dispatch is still doing a great job of getting me by the house on loads so hopefully that will continue.

This was a very interesting week as I had a meeting with my bosses in regards to me exploring other job opportunities. In particular I was looking at Cargo Transporters in Charlotte, NC mostly because they can get their drivers home on most weekends. My bosses offered me more money to stay so it looks like I'm going to stay put. I got into this industry for stability and money, so whenever money increases I'm all in lol. Besides that I haven't been by the house in 3 weeks as I've been to the terminal once each of the past 3 weeks to get my ac fixed properly. It seems to be working beautifully now so I should get by the house this week for sure!!!

Amiller, first off let me say that you have inspired me to no end with your thread. You are living my dream come true. I am still in the getting a loan to get into school part of it,I have made it as far as getting my class A permit I'm guessing that right now I am somewhere about where you were a year and change ago. I know nothing of your past and am sure it cant be as bad as my own. I have been researching trucking companies for weeks and am pretty sure that Carolina Cargo is where I will try to get my start at. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for being an inspiration to me and I'm sure many others trying to get their lives right.

The best advice is to keep an open mind and stay focused on whatever you're trying to accomplish. People will always give advice but ultimately you have the power to influence your success in this industry. It's obvious that Carolina Cargo has plenty of negatives but the one positive that they'll give you an opportunity to drive should outweigh the negatives.

I've been home for the past 3 weekends getting caught up on family time and errands around the house. It still seems that I cannot enjoy my home that I'm paying for since I'm rarely there due to being OTR. I manage to keep myself strong by remembering that I'm working to make sure that my family is taken care of and to have stability for them as well. I had to switch trucks last week due to my trucking needing some major work. My sister is currently with me in the truck so hopefully we can spend some quality time together. It is definitely pass due but it has been hard since I'm preoccupied with my own family. Anyway here are my mileage totals for the past 3 weeks:

    June 30-July 7 (2169 total miles)
    421 miles (Aurora, CO-Albuquerque, NM)
    1748 miles (Portales, NM-Suffolk, VA)

    July 7-July 14 (2186 total miles)
    553 miles (Franklin, VA-Fredonia, NY)
855 miles (North East, PA-Birmingham, AL)
    778 miles (Irondale, AL-Lutherville, MD)

    July 14-July 21 (1982 total miles)
1042 miles (Wilmington, DE-Cedar Rapids, IA)
    940 miles (Muscatine, IA-Charlotte, NC)
