Haha great minds think alike!
Think about it this way... Would you give a quarter of a million dollars worth of your equipment to someone who can't do something as simple as not walk on the grass
And wait until you get there and see your fellow students do it before they're told not to... I think some of the guys up there actually watch for that and love giving new guys heart attacks lol.

TMC in IA is the same, about walking on the grass...lol Easy thing for us of the Military..lol
Quick question; Do they pay for school? -
Maverick will offer tuition reimbursement if they are the very first company you work for out of trucking school.
However, Maverick is one of the few companies that does not require you to graduate a driving school. All you need is to have your CDL, they'll train you to do the rest.SheepDog Thanks this. -
Ok My son is looking at going to get his CDL and has told me that Maverick pays for school but, I haven't heard or read that anywhere so, that is why I asked. Some companies do pay for CDL school before you start but they don't advertise that they will do that. My wife got her CDL from Chattanooga, TN and while I was driving for the company a friend told me they paid for his up front. We than called the # he gave me and talked with the person he told us to talk to and wala,,the man stated "yes" we will pay for her CDL up front. So, if anyone knows if Maverick will do this as well,,let me know.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
I had also read about not stepping on the grass. It was an easy guess that it might be a kind of test to see if you're paying attention. Is it so hard to show your employer a bit of respect without having to be told anyway? I did NOT know that the grounds were an especially prized landscape. I look forward to seeing that!
Cheers! -
You can get the permit and then rent a truck to take the road test without ever going to a school. I'd be willing to bet that a lot of drivers who start out on
farms go this route since they were likely driving the trucks without a license long before deciding to hit the road.SheepDog Thanks this. -
If you can, avoid truck driving school, unless you're attending one at an accredited community college with a program that usually runs an entire semester, not 14 or 21 days. You will waste so much money going that route. -
raetnrunner Thanks this.
