I think there's a Texas terminal, but not sure. Lots of Texas freight for sure.

Some of the oilfield companies will help you get CDL. Call around and ask.

Updates updates! Thanks all for the support first and foremost. Im in Troops To Transportation on Ft. Hood so long as I have enough post 9/11 GI bill left. Im 90% sure I do. ebenefits has been down for days so Ill call the VA tomorrow and get confirmation that way. I am going over thier partner carriers over the next few days so I can directly reach out to the ones I may want to work for. TMC is one of the carriers. I have read mostly good driver reviews on various forums and had been talking to them over the past couple days. I have also already crissed a few off the list as well. Someone mentioned Melton I am calling them tomorrow to get some insight. I read some driver reviews about them. The biggest complaint was about the orientation. They can be rough during the securement training. Complained it was an angry Marine vet running it. I say if you cant cut it in training they dont want you there. The road can be rough. So not a downside to me. I think a couple may be natural gas tankers if so as long as drivers have something good to say they could be in the running. But right now til I dig into the companies TMC is my first choice followed by Melton and pre research Carmax is in third. Tomorrow's going to be busy schedule my TSA appointment in Austin for my twic, study the CDL manual the gave me (get a head start on the permit and endorsements) and start researching the companies. Have a good evening all and be safe out there!

Thanks for all the input. I see quite a bit you put up here. The school Im in is actually on the military base, you have to be able to go through the guarded gates to get there. Post commanders and CID not only kick bad contractors off post they often arrest the people involved and fed authorities go after monitary losses. I was a bit particular about choosing this school. They are also not a third party testor. Ill also be filling out thier job application that they send out to carriers for pre hire. You can't road test with them until you have a pre-hire. This is to protect your GI bill in the rare event you do not get hired. They dont get the full tuition until you get your CDL.

    Todays uodate
    DOT physical set for Monday
    In person TWIC application Thursday
GI bill all good to go (officially enrolled as of yesterday)
Pre hire letter from Werner as of this morning.
TMC is showing high interest may hear from them by Monday.
Swifty (we all know about them right) also scheduling an interview for Tuesday.
Couple oilfield carriers 2 weeks on 2 weeks off I am interested in that I may have to reach out myself, but they look like my work absence will sadly be prohibitive for a while.
