Without a vaccin....
...not going to happen.
Proof off this is 2 fold.
#1 studies done show % off immune too low to get herd immunity.(German study)
#2 too many who have had Covid that get it a second time meaning that after recovery the natural immunity goes away in a few months.
So natural herd immunity is not in the cards.(sadly)
Leaves us with masks, social distance and lots off ventilating rooms.
The latter is not enough mentioned,i feel.

What I don't understand is this: If we don't retain immunity naturally, then would that not also apply to the vaccine? I mean they release a flu shot every year, that tells me we don't get immunity from the flu either.
Personally, I see this as something they'll add into the annual flu shot mix. So far our government has made no indication this shot will be forced or mandatory.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
My comment was to waiting to see if a vaccine works and without side effects not to let something else happen in the mean time... unknown consequences... wait to see if it works while something else happens or how many people die for fear of possible side effects if the vaccine works.
And then you have the idea that this is the best opportunity to microchip everyone to prove they have been vaccinated so that they are allowed to conduct business in public... lol ... TicketMaster may not let you attend events without proof that you have been vaccinated... lol
I know, I know... totally sounds like a conspiracy... lol ... interesting times
we will be showing our mark/microchip to attend concerts... lolTrucker61016, Dale thompson and daf105paccar Thank this. -
The issue with the annual flu shot is that it’s a different type or variant of the flu... a different shot each year because it’s a different virus each year... or that’s my current limited understanding of the issue..Dale thompson Thanks this.

That is my understanding as well.
I just have a hard time seeing how a vaccine vs being exposed to the actual virus would be any different from each other? I mean logic would dictate that if we don't retain immunity from actually catching it, how would being exposed to it from a vaccine be any different? I'm not a doctor or medical professional so these are just my musings.Trucker61016, MidWest_MacDaddy and Dale thompson Thank this. -
Apparently the different vaccines work in different ways.

Well there have been many vaccines that have saved millions of people. My father was around when the polio vaccine was developed. Hearing how scared people were when there was an outbreak was insightful.

I think I heard said that they hope enough people not multiplying the virus can keep it at manageable levels and that's the primary focus. Most people aren't going to end up hospitalized so low numbers over all and even lower hospital beds used....we cash work with that. Its the medical system overwhelmed that's the really big issue here.
I think.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
That is what I've been told as well. Average covid fatality here has lived 4 years past the average life expectancy and I believe I read the average age for hospitalization is 62. The risk to the healthy younger folks is quite small. Still, its our responsibility to prevent passing it on to the older population.Dale thompson Thanks this.
