I will be starting school in WI on April 25, 2011. Can anyone tell me anything about The School. I have heard some good things about Millis Trucking.

Welcome aboard. Where are you going to school at?? There are so many of them nowadays and each might vary a little. You can expect the first week or so of classroom, learning laws and regulations and familiarizing you with an 18 wheeler and pretrip inspections. Then you go get your permit.
Then you have a week or so of the obstacle course learning to back into various situations. Then you have the actual behind the wheel training on the road. My school, we went to an abandoned airport property to start learning to shift and then got out on the real roads. Some places might mix the obstacle course and road training together. Then at the end you get tested for your actual CDL. Some places the instructors are authorized by the state to do the testing. Or a tester might come to you for the road test. Other places you are herded down to the testing facilities.
It's alot of fun and a memorable experience. When you first get behind the wheel you will be nervous and sweat bullets. But that goes away as you learn and get comfortable. Eventially it's like driving a car as far as comfort goes. Just listen to the instructor and absorb everything in and it'll go smoothly.Rotten Thanks this. -
Richfield WI. I already have tractor-trailer experience, but I dont have any over the road time. I have to go through training course to get that time.
I am nervous for the fact that you have to sign all this stuff and if you dont satisfy the instructor or he or she doesnt like you you still are responsible for the money part!
