CoalHeart, you assume correctly about the no TV thing. That is exactly the reason. Good luck, take lots of notes, and STAY OFF THE GRASS!!!!!!!!!!

    CoalHeart Thanks this.

Jxu417 Thanks for the advice. I did as you said and all was well...until. My drug test didn't come back today. gotta wait until tomorrow :(

I'm very impressed with Maverick so far. The only somewhat negative things I can think of would be how strange that Automatic felt during the road test and the Maverick hotel was a bit warm. And of course the drug test not being ready. I can't afford drugs, so I have no idea what the hold up is.

Can you tell me about the ability test. Coming down this weekend and a little nervous I might be too old and out of shape. Lol

It isn't bad . I'm old-ish (43) and out of shape and had no problems. Some folks were concerned about the step test, but no one failed. The step test is simply stepping up on a small step (maybe 4-6 inches?) in time with a metronome 4 count.( not sure of the tempo, but certainly wasn't more than 120 bpm) Basically, 1: Step up with one foot 2: step up with the other foot 3: step down with one foot 4: step down with the other. You do this for 3 minutes.

Then they check your pulse. It seemed to me the magic pulse rate was "Didn't die". It wasn't bad at all. Honestly, it seems that Maverick really works with/for those that have the right attitude and really want to be here. Be polite, be respectful and appreciative and everything should be fine. One the bright side, it's really easy, as these folks really are a class act.

The other test that might throw some is the lift test. The only "difficult" one is the last. They put 120 lbs in a milk crate. You squat down, grabbing it by handles near the bottom and stand up with it. It isn't hard, but it is heavy enough that you'll notice it's...heavy.

Edit: Just wanted to mention that the test isn't as easy as it seems from reading my post. You WILL feel like you've been put through the mill.

The agility test isn't too bad, but if you are a little nervous it will help you focus. I'm old(er)ish than coalheart, and I bave a few pounds on him, and I made it. I came here thinking this is where I wanted to work, now I know I will be proud to do it the right way, because it's the right thing to do, do it the MAVERICK WAY. I am very impressed with their commitment to hiring professionals.

Thanks to all. Still nervous about the agility test. I am a really big guy that hasn't done much since being laid off since July. My heart rate rises getting out of my recliner. Lol

Any of you guys recently out of school going with Maverick? How was the road test. Recruiter said it is after the time with the trainer but I am reading it is before. I have been off the road for a yr and a half and I am wondering if I will have a chance to knock the rust off before I get tested again (i.e. I gotta go back with a trainer i I go with Mav)

I was wondering the same thing. Despite qualifying as an experienced driver, I have still been off the road for a couple years. Hoping it is like riding a bicycle but if not, I would be totally willing to go out with a trainer if needed. Also, is a pre-trip inspection part of the test? Or backing for that matter?

    Tjhog Thanks this.
