I had a hometime request, that I wanted to be home on the day off something important, it didnt happen, was a day or two late, now ive learnt I put my hometime in earlier then the day I actually wanna be home. I wonder about these people who dont get loads, is it an attitude thing? are they turning down a bunch of loads? whats the correlation?

When you ask a question on this forum seems you tend to get a barrage of negative comments before you get a answer..You just try to ignore the nonsense, from the know-it-allers and maybe you will find your answer in the thread..Good luck as well Bud!!
inkeper, nicnat2, scottied67 and 2 others Thank this. -
Wasn't it nice when there wasnt so much technolgy...lol...I mean with this new plus1 thing it wont be any fun going back and forth arguing with the planners and dispatchers..right...lol.

other than the hometime/getting a load problem i feel swift was a great place to work i do agree i was being a little childish but that the past i want to get back in a truck and drive i realize there is going to be problems out there but i am ready to deal with the small stuff to make better money

My Dm was pretty good too..He was always warning us to not to take any lds to Tx cause of no freight going out. I always seemed to have plenty of miles and rarely got time to do a 34 reset. Getting a load usually wasnt a issue but once went from Big D to Ok and there wasnt a ld to pick up,(lovely weekend disp/plnrs)...So the ran me mt all the way to Fontana.....I couldnt believe what I was seeing on the QC.....lol...Oh well I was more then happy to do that instead of throwing tires off a trlr...thats for sure.

Ya, I got a pplan.
It was picking up the next morning at 1100, a live load.
My PTA had been set to 2200 the previous night, by Plus-1.
Plus-1 figured I could get to my first stop at the scheduled 1930 - a live unload - and be to my final drop - 72 miles away - and have a PTA of 2200.
Right.
My original pplan for that load had a window of up to 2359, and when I got the actual load assignment it was 2130.
Even with a 2200 PTA, and assuming I could be done with the load and have gotten to a place to park for the night in short order - I still could not have made a 1100 appointment if I wanted to do any sort of pre-trip.
By the way, the shipper was ~170 miles away. At least a 3 hour drive.
And, I didn't actually get done with the last load until around 2300.
So I turned down the load, with a PU time of 1400.
Within a few minutes a planner QC'd me asking why, if I had a PTA of the previous night, I could not pick up the load at 1100.
While I was typing my response, I get another pplan.
This was picking up in the same city at a Swift drop yard.
A t-call load.
I accepted it.
I get done with my last load, don't need an mt for a t-call, and call to be dispatched.
I'm told the load is not there yet. Just wait and it will be dispatched as soon as it arrives.
So I head to the yard to be there when the driver arrives with my load.
I wait around for an hour....
Not yet.
So I head for the Flying J, 4 miles away.
Several hours later I am still waiting for my load assignment.
Don't know if the other driver ever got here, but at least I will have a good cup of coffee when I wake up.scottied67 and driver79 Thank this. -
I argue with my dms all the time, but it's nothing they can do as the real power lies with the planner. I am stuck here in Laredo on my second day, swift refuses to bobtail me to San Antonio or anywhere freight is more available.
If t is true that freight out of Laredo is lacking then I am at this pilot for a week, or moredriver79 Thanks this.
