LOL, how convienant to call it nonsense when you can't give one single example of what you are talking about.

The fact is that this country runs on logistics and there is absolutely no way that enough drivers can be placed behind the wheel of enough trucks to cover the nations transportation needs without schools. Even with schools there is a massive shortage of drivers.

If we did it your way, with good ol boys and peoples uncles teaching people how to drive, half the nation would starve to death.

Anyways, you have a great Thanksgiving with your family.

Eating food brought to you by drivers that were trained in CDL mills.

Look here Junior, first, most of us have been in the industry since you been in diapers. You keep that attitude of I'm smarter than everyone, you have some serious challenges ahead of you. I live just across the river from you. I know what kind of area you come from and your quality of education. There are states in this country where their 9th grade level is your 12th grade level. So put your guns back in the holster and listen to what they have to say. You are looking pretty stupid with your attitude and posts. How many posters are supporting your approach?

    Let's start with this one.

The THEC is made up of two groups, the TN Board of Regents and the University of TN System.

If you look on the bottom of the TN Tech's website, you will see a TN Board of Regents Institution link which is acceptable. So this whole post is nonsense and shows you pulled your guns too early.

Colleges have lower job placement rates, mainly because the driver is not committed to any company. Many find their own jobs away from the 3 mega mill choices you get at a driving school. They make smarter choices instead of being forced to pick from bad, badder and baddest. :)

Again you are reading between the lines because you don't know the whole story. But chose to attack other posters.

Ain't they all unqualified before they go to school? Drug test, bad records? They shouldn't hide info and lie trying to sneak in and think they won't get caught.

They don't know. They give you the training and then it's big boy time. You are on your own. Colleges at least require a GED.

I think the more of looking for another career is you don't have the right attitude. You'll find everything wrong and be madder than a mashed cat by the 6th month.

Yep, anyone with 5 years experience and passes the state exam can open a truck driving school..... and they do. Just because you see Roadmaster on the credential list doesn't mean squat. They are the biggest truck driving school with schools all across the country. They have some clout.

How do you know? Drivers have nothing to prove. The majority on this website are trying to help others. Then there are the donkey's that think they are better than everyone and attempt to put others down trying to make themselves look better. You're way of thinking is going to cause you problems on the road.

If you don't like this website, why are you here?

    Dap1126 Thanks this.

CondoCruiser - No need to waste anymore of our time on this mental giant. After all, he's superior to us in every way.

One thing that I do find interesting is that I see NO ONE coming to his defense. So, that must mean that everyone else is wrong and he's the only one that's right!

Rest assured that one day he'll display his holier than thou, know it all attitude some place, when he doesn't have a website handle to hide behind, to the wrong guy and he'll get a lesson in humility. :biggrin_25525:

No worries, I'm 44 years old.....haven't crossed paths with anyone successful at stepping up to that plate yet.

So don't worry about me, I'll be alright. I'll just keep calling out nonsense when I see it.

I noticed you didn't answer my question.........because you can't. But that's ok too.

I went to a GREAT Communit College in GA. accredited and certified. They are the BEST!!
The program lasts 3 months, 5 days a week, from 7 am to 3 pm and sometimes, they offer overtime on weekends for those who need extra practicing. I qualified for grants and the total cost for my program was about U$ 100.00 (including books, DOT physical, test, everything):yes2557: The first two weeks were in the classroom only, we read the whole driving booklet, took writen tests, learned about logs, Hazmat, how to use maps, watched lots and lots of videos, defensive driving, and a BUNCH of other things....
We were also visited by lots of recruiters and people from ATA...
Then we started practcing on the range, different kinds of backing, changing gears, doing Pre/post trip inspection every day, and going through 108 or so items in the truck, plus air brake inspection, hooking/unhooking... The range was HUGE, for that college also trains Marta Bus and Georgia Power.
On the last part of the program we would go out with the trucks and spend 5 to 6 hrs a day driving around in the city, on major hwys, back roads, etc.
There were 5 students for each truck and every one of us got PLENTY of driving till the rest of the program.
We had many instructors, some of whom were still driving trucks and others were retired truckers and drove for decades. So we got GREAT advice from the real pros. :yes2557:
And we had EXCELLENT training!! :yes2557:
Our examiners were also examined by GA dept of transportation (not sure... can't remember).... but on the day of our road tests, someone from government would come to watch the examiners and score them.

I know some people who went to CDL schools that charged 4 thousand dollars for almost one month training.... :biggrin_2554: They wanted something "fast" but learned practically nothing and got no practice... And some companies will not spend much time training you if you already have a CDL.

    Wish you the best! :biggrin_25519:
