Here is the link to PTDI site. The first sentence tells you how the standards and by who they were developed.

Has anyone gone to any of the community colleges in alabama? Im doing my research right now ( have been for about 6 months ).
Im currently in North Dakota, but will be moving to Alabama by the end of this month ( Prattville/Montgomery area is home )
CDL school vs Community College....
Im leaning towards community college...cheaper, go home every night, no splitting hotel room with someone, better training?, better condition of trucks/equipment? Just want to get the most out of training. Im a fast learner, but i dont want to be rushed in learning just to get through some cdl school.
Question,
If going through a community college, does that make you more, uh, appealing to a company? Maybe a better chance to get hired than someone who went to a 15 day class? Just curious... -
Only a minor problem with folks like me who are in their middle 30s and from foreign country. COMPASS test for community colleges. I did not practice math for about 15 years and not to mention english writing part of the test.

So I've been lurking on these forums for the past few days. To make this to-the-point, I need to go to a 'CDL Mill'. Unfortunately, I do not have disposable cash to go to a CC or paid program, I don't exactly have a great deal of time on my hands, and I need to start getting money accrued quickly. I've heard some of the horror stories, I know right off the bat "DO NOT LEASE" (thanks for that tip!). In a perfect world, I could/would go to school, take my time, and go in. So I have time and cash working against me. However, I don't need 'time home', I LOVE the road (big reason I want to do this... "Wherever I May Roam" is one of 'my' songs), I don't have anyone waiting for me at home, so basically solo running all day every day, in the sleeper is JUST my game. So, I know CR England is a dump from what everyone says, but it can't be worse than Earle C. Clemons Job Corps, and I survived that and a few other unsavory places. Prime and Swift so far seem less hated than England, and they are somewhat closer to me. Any advise on a decent CDL Mill?

More to the point, which of them actually work, i.e. I get my CDL, sign on for eight months to a year, obligation is done, monies due them for schooling are paid, and I'm on the road again... Like the movie Snatch, I'm not looking for Vegas, I'm looking for Frankie Four-Fingers. Bad analogy, perhaps. So which one actually 'works'? AK-47 here, not PSG1.

as far as i can see cdl schools only teach you enough to pass for the dmv, heard a lot more good things from community colleges

Don't just say because one is longer you actually learn more please. I know guys with masters degrees that can barely read. What specifically do you learn at a CC that's better than say Roadmaster?
Does going to a CC get you a better job? Do you make more money after graduating from a CC as opposed to TDI?
Did you really save any money going to a CC?
When you consider that someone graduates a private school and gets back to work a full month to month and a half faster than a CC graduate and factor in that extra 4-6 weeks of pay, have you really saved any money?
Especially when you consider that many private schools are offering no credit financing options with very little money down and all the best carriers do full tuition reimbursement, I don't see how anyone can consider a CC a better option over a good reputable private school. -
Community college is almost always the better option, there are some exceptions.
