I wouldn't. Stock mics being pieces of crap is more or less limited to Cobra. And in the case of my Uniden 520XL, the tiny little electret mic that comes with it blows everything else I've tried with that radio right out of the water.

I object to logging, it's a huge part of why atmospheric CO2 is going through the roof. No need for plastic toilet paper; we just need to end the ban on industrial hemp, which makes better paper than wood does anyway.
Cutting down trees to produce paper is perhaps the most idiotic thing we do, as a species.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
So with what has been said i guess i will go for the mirror mounts instead of behind the cab. When the flatbed finally happens I will move them to there so they will be higher up. I know I have said that wilson antennas would be my choice because of local a local source and being able to get them same day so to speak, however since i have to order the custom mirror mounts anyhow Im not opposed to other options like ordering from amazon. Earlier in this thread Sirio antennas were spoken highly of , has anyone else got any other suggestions to look into?

The larger the metal surface under the antenna the better it will work.
My roof being 7 feet long and 6 feet wide, will talk much further than a bed rail 1.5 inches wide by 5 feet across, or a mounting bracket 2 inches across.
Larger mounting surface determines performance.J/Cope79 Thanks this. -
Do you have bucket seats?
They come in different colors and different widths.

If you could get 2 of them and separate them 102 inches from each other then you wouldn't really need a flat metal surface underneath them in order for them to work very well but accomplishing that on a pickup truck is very difficult since the body is so narrow.J/Cope79 Thanks this.
