Can't discuss anything about my truck, I can say cameras are not allowed most of where I go, If you had a camera they would give you a choice take it out or don't come in.Jarhed1964 Thanks this.

I have driven plenty of company trucks that had cameras, facing both ways, I just don't care they have saved my butt more than they have kicked it. If your not a hotdog driver you should not have any problems with cameras, your on camera almost everywhere you go now days. They just don't bother me at all. I almost always have my personal drivecam and Gopro running, except where I'm prohibited.
If you do run cameras never tell a LEO at a scene of an accident, or citation you have a camera, they can take for evidence ("Safe Keeping")... Keep your mouth shut till you have a reason to bring it up, I have take video into court and beaten tickets twice in Bakersfield Traffic Court, both time the ticket were thrown out at the hearing where you enter your plea. When ask I pleaded not guilty with camera, both time the judge took me back into his chambers looked at the video, came back out and dismissed the tickets.Exit310 and Speed_Drums Thank this. -

I know of at least one very large trucking company that banned all cameras (even outward facing ones) from its trucks when it discovered how much of a legal hazard they can be.Jarhed1964, BackwoodsGA and MidwestResident Thank this.

@mathematrucker
Which trucking company is this, that banned all cameras, (even outward facing ones), & where is it located, (both the main office & terminals)? Is it an OTR, regional, or LTL company, perhaps a combination of all 3 of these?
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.Last edited: Apr 19, 2021

It's a dry van company called Heartland Express based near Iowa City (they also ended up with some reefers when they purchased Interstate Distributor Co. out of Tacoma, but I think they were going to phase those out.) I obtained my information about their camera policy in late August 2019 when I did their driver orientation in Tacoma.
The manager who told me about the policy didn't say "legal hazard" or go into any specifics about why they adopted it, but it was pretty clear from his description that they'd taken some sort of financial hit that would not have occurred had cameras not been installed. It's possible they've gone back to having cameras by now, but I strongly doubt it.Jarhed1964, BackwoodsGA and MidwestResident Thank this. -
I have a tee shirt that has a stripe in the correct position, looks like a seat belt, so Iam safe.Speed_Drums and TokyoJoe Thank this.

Spot on! I parked my last truck in 2018, started a new project Manager job, started and finished grad school, and just got recruited into a better paying project management job.
My dream of trucking is over. Only took 10 years.Mototom, snowbird_89 and ethos Thank this.
