Garbage trucks are often over weight and have a huge problem with fatal accidents. There is no even to it they where probably one of the first industries to jump on board.

I had a Ward Trucking driver tell me last week the inside portion of their cameras is turned off. Only the side facing the road is active.

Its not only driver cams ....next time you download a phone app...look at the accept page you have to click on to get the app....it says you give permission for them to access your photos, friends list , and even the mic and camera ... not every app does....but most do

Western Express has them mounted in the QualComm. To my knowledge they're driver facing only(for now) and they only come on periodically (to check on the driver and/or the truck's current whereabouts when it's parked/ shutdown).

There aren't cameras in the Qualcomm unit, the camera is a big thing mounted on the windshield.
Rumor has it Qualcomm tried to sell a 12,000 pound camera that filled the cab up, but no one would buy it.
