Hey Charlie Brown, what exactly do you think that Qualcomm and peoplenet system they money you with is hooked to??? Cell signals and the camera is feeding through it on monitored cameras and is perfectly capable of live feed. Even if it was all satellite run they would lease use from hughesnet or exede's system which again is perfectly capable of live feed. Learn the technology before giving advice. Now are they watching all the time...no but they can on a monitored system camera. I am not paranoid about it like some but I do know the technology and what it's capable of.

Must be, if the company in question has such mistrust in their drivers as to stick a camera in their face.

I don't believe it's about mistrust... If I had a big company I would do the same. It's about holding the driver to a high standard of professionalism... And it's good proof that you're not doing anything incorrectly in the case of an accident. I don't see it as an issue, monitor me, nothing to hide.

    Okay, but...

Now here, in light of your first sentence you're contradicting yourself.

How can a camera trained on a driver be about anything BUT not trusting the driver to do his job?

I will never be convinced that these are anything more than a means for a company to point fingers. In this age of ECMs and black boxes, there are more then enough ways already to prove fault in an accident.

As a holder of a 25,000 hour distinguished driving award and one who does NOT have a camera in my face, most of us can do our jobs without that. The ones who can't need to be replaced, WITHOUT punishing the rest of us.

I absolutely agree, if they can't do their job then they need to find a different line of work, rolling down the road at 80,000 pounds takes a level of professionalism... I also believe however, every "starter" company should have them to help in training starters on their mistakes and helping them improve. Not that all starter companies would do that seeing that many are only starter companies because they're cheap and don't wanna pay the more experienced drivers what they're worth.

I do not believe that companies that require 2-5 years experience should have them, why would you need them with a driver that has proven themselves?

    I understand your stance however.

You want to point a camera at me? Fine.....

The bad singing starts at 230 am.

Any REALLY BIG boogers I pull out of my nose will be displayed in close up, with graphic commentary.

The dirty limerick hour. Or two.

I will enter and leave the sleeper butt naked every day.

I will add studio lighting, and adjust the camera, so Safety can watch me clip my toe nails in Hi Def, then apply my athlete's foot cream.

Any nasty looking mole, pimple, or rash will be displayed on camera for evaluation by the Safety Department.

And finally, every morning I'll turn tail to the camera, bend over and spread 'em, and say, "HEY SAFETY! Is that a HEMORRHOID or a PEANUT? Whatever it is, I can't seem to get rid of it!"
